The SDLP has proposed a £200 payment to every household to tackle the cost-of-living crisis, as part of their election manifesto launched by party leader Colum Eastwood.

Mr Eastwood launched the SDLP’s 39-page manifesto in Dungannon, County Tyrone.

The manifesto includes: investing £1bn in the health service; a 6% pay rise for nurses; increasing free pre-school childcare provision from 12.5 hours a week to 30; doubling the level of investment in the social housing development programme; investing £500 for every child when they are born, with an additional £500 when they turn 10, as part of a children’s future fund.

At the launch, Mr Eastwood accused NI’s other parties of being “obsessed” with the protocol, polls, or their own position at Stormont, the SDLP wants to “pull people out of poverty”.

Woman Attacked By Masked Gang Armed With Hammers

Police have issued an appeal for information after a woman was assaulted in her home in Carrickfergus, County Antrim. According to police, the woman, aged in her 40s, was in bed at her home on Sunningdale Crescent, when five masked me, armed with hammers, forced their way into the house at around 10pm on Tuesday night.

Alliance Proposes Week Of Free Public Transport

The Alliance Party has proposed a pilot scheme of one week’s free bus and rail travel to encourage people to migrate from private car usage. The plan is part of a series of proposals aimed to improve active travel solutions, including an independent Infrastructure Commission, an all-Ireland rail network, a Sustainable Travel Commissioner.

Men Arrested Under Terrorism Act Released Following Questioning Three men arrested in connection with an anti-terrorism operation have been released following questioning. The man, aged 40, 59 and 64, were made on Tuesday as part of an investigation in to the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA).
