Fauquier sheriff’s office unveils new uniforms, black-and-silver color scheme | Public Safety & Crime

The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office is donning off new uniforms with a new color scheme.

The office announced Monday it is transitioning from brown, tan and gold uniforms to black, silver and tan. More durable fabrics and clothing materials are also a part of the shift.

“Modern uniforms enhance deputies’ comfort, mobility and safety aligning with the demands of current policing practices,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release announcing the shift. “Other design features include outer-carrier vests that integrate modern ballistic protection and hold less-lethal equipment (tasers), radios and the upcoming body worn cameras, all of which promote more efficient and accountable law enforcement.”

Along with the new uniforms, the sheriff’s office is rebranding its official patch, badge and the schemes on their vehicles. All official emblems of the sheriff’s office are transitioning away from brown and gold to the new black and silver colors.

The transition cost approximately $525,000, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Jeffrey Long. “The Sheriff’s Office carefully planned and budgeted for this expense over the last two fiscal cycles, with the support of County Administration,” Long told FauquierNow.

The move is the vision of Sheriff Jeremy Falls, the release states, further implementing his goal to improve the overall wellness of his employees.

The makeover took eight months to accomplish and involved over 5,000 individual uniform pieces. The sheriff’s office said “three exceptional Sheriff’s Office staff worked to acquire samples, collect and organize sizing, coordinate orders, and then final distribution to all sworn deputies.”

Fauquier County Lt. Col. Stephen “Chad” Brubaker acknowledged the those staff members, the county Office of Management and Budget and the support from county administration and citizens of Fauquier County.

“A project of this significance, which transforms our safety and approach to modern policing, would not have been possible without the efforts of our dedicated team,” Brubaker said in the release.
