Ranking the Top Ten paint schemes of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Season

We saw lots of different schemes hit the track in 2024, some throwbacks and some one-off special schemes, but here are my picks for the ten best dressed cars of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.

The Top Ten Paint Schemes of the 2024 NASCAR Season:

With so many great schemes this year, it is hard to narrow it down to just ten of the best. I will not be including Darlington throwbacks in this list, as they were just one off schemes. Any other race’s paint scheme qualifies for the top ten. Since this is tough enough, this is an unranked list, just a general top ten.

#1: Ross Chastain’s Retro Busch Beer Paint Scheme:

While not a ‘throwback scheme’ but a retro design, Chastain’s Retro Busch scheme was a great looking racecar. Moving away from the modern can design and incorporated the old school red, gold, and dark blues of Busch’s past can design. Moving from Harvick and Stewart Haas to Chastain and Trackhouse, Busch has brought some beautiful race cars to the track in 2024. This beautiful scheme scored a fifth place finish in the Southern 500.

#2 Shane Van Gisbergen’s Weather-Tech Scheme:

Another beautiful Trackhouse scheme, this time the red, white, and blue Weather-Tech scheme driven by Shane Van Gisbergen. SVG made highlight reels in this car, going toe-toe with Chris Buescher at Watkins Glen. This scheme features red foil numbers, a recent allowance by NASCAR, and they look great. A simple yet elegant design, that is why it is on this list.

#3 Kyle Larson’s Hendrick Cars/Arrow McLaren Scheme:

One of the fan favorites of this year, and a race winner. A historic partnership between two titans of motorsport, Hendrick and McLaren, and Kyle Larson running both the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 in the same day. While Larson never got to drive the Orange, Blue, and White Camaro in the 600, fans would be treated to it at the Brickyard. It would be the Brickyard, where Larson and this special paint scheme would get redemption.

While the Hendrick Cars paint scheme is incredible important to the Hendrick Organization. I believe them allowing this scheme shows the importance of the partnership, and it looks great. The orange while the minority color, stands out against the blue. While I love the 2024 scheme, I am not opposed to a redesign for 2025.

#4 Ryan Blaney Advance Auto Parts Scheme:

Simplicity seems to be the name of the game with schemes in 2024. Ryan Blaney’s black, red, and yellow Advance Auto Parts scheme was simple but menacing. The yellow contrasts the black very well, and the red contrasts them both. Sponsor; Advance Auto Parts uses the rear quarter panel well and another car featuring foil numbers. The contrasts, the sponsor, this was a good-looking Mustang. Blaney got to take this car to victory lane in Iowa, with hundreds of his family watching from the stands.

#5 William Byron Daytona 500 Axalta Scheme:

The first winner of the year, William Bryon, took a flaming white Axalta Camaro to victory lane in the 2024 Daytona 500. While incredibly barebones, this scheme with its red flames and neon number made itself known on track. While running in the 500, Byron also ran the scheme at Phoenix for the championship race.

#6 Chris Buescher Travel Centers of America:

If you can tell, I have an liking towards the red white and blue paint schemes. RFK killed it with schemes this year, and this and the next are my two personal favorites from 2024. The subtle Day-Glo orange/red, the chrome number, the excellent use of the quarter panel space for the sponsor. This scheme takes a spot on my top ten.

#7 Brad Keselowski Red Sox/Build Submarines Scheme:

A lesser-known fact about RFK Racing, is that the F in RFK is for Fenway. Fenway Sports Group, the same group that owns the world famous Fenway Park, where the Boston Red Sox play. A collaboration between sponsors, Build Submarines and The Fenway Group, the Red Sox socks and the change of the number to a more ‘baseball’ style. Ran at New Hampshire, Keselowski took this scheme to a 28th place finish.

#8 Bubba Wallace Star Wars X Columbia

A new tradition for the #23 team is running a Star Wars themed paint scheme as a partnership with sponsor Columbia Outdoors. Last year, Wallace ran a Luke Skywalker/X-Wing inspired scheme with activation from Mark Hamill, with a fire suit and helmet to replacate the flight suit and helmet. This year he turned to the dark side, running a Darth Vader inspired scheme, with activation from Hayden Christensen, and a fire suit and helmet to match.

#9 Noah Gragson Tracker Boats/BRCC Scheme:

Gragson was a serious contender for the 2022 Xfinity Series championship, driving the #9 Bass Pro/Black Rifle Coffee. His light and dark grey camo with hunter orange was iconic that season, and transferred well to his #10 Ford Mustang. Loved seeing this one on track, and hope it returns with Front Row in 2025.

#10 Christopher Bell Mobil 1

Mobil 1 had so many great schemes this year, it was hard to pick just one. The gold schemes honoring their 50th anniversary were great, but this one scheme took the prize. The abstract shapes leading into the Mobil 1 pegasus work really well and the red contrasts the black and white. The red O in the Mobil 1 logo, so much of this scheme is just perfect. Christopher Bell drove this scheme at Talladega, Richmond, and Martinsville.
